Matcha lattes are a great way to get your daily dose of antioxidants and energy, but they can be tricky to make at home. If you're like me and want your matcha latte to be as delicious as it is healthy.
WHAT IS MATCHA?
Matcha powder is made up of ground up green tea leaves. Instead of brewing a cup of tea with tea leaves, this is ground up leaves that are dissolved into the warm/hot water.
Now that summer is upon us here in Florida, in the afternoon, I get SUPER sleepy and need a pick me up. Matcha contains L-theanine, which is a relaxing amino acid that helps to improve focus and concentration without the jittery feeling that coffee gives you. It also has caffeine and catechins (tea antioxidants) which help lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol levels.
This simple recipe is creamy and yummy without being loaded with artificial flavors and perfect for those who are picky about their matcha lattes. If you can get your hands on some good quality matcha powder, you won't regret it!
Iced Matcha Latte Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons matcha powder
- 1 to 2 tablespoons hot water
- 1 cup warm water
- Ice
- Oat milk or milk of choice (almond, soy or whole)
Instructions

In a measuring cup or bowl, add the matcha powder. Pour in the 1 to 2 tablespoons of hot water and whisk until the matcha has fully incorporated into the water. This should create almost a bit of a paste.

Pour in the remaining 1 cup of water and mix. Transfer to the fridge or freezer to chill for about 15 minutes.

Fill two glasses full of ice and add your milk of choice so the glass is about 3/4 of the way full. If you like, this is a great time to add any simple syrup. Lastly, pour in the chilled matcha and stir.
